Post-wedding/day-after shoots are always great. There's something about that exhausted, disheveled, hungover look that truly captures the fun that was the day before. But it's a special treat when post-wedding shoots happen down the road a bit--the couple are freshened up and really devoted to making some great pictures. Such is the case with Valerie and Dalton, whose fantastic Palm Springs wedding I photographed back in June. In addition to spending some quality time with some of my favorite clients, of particular interest to me was Valerie's secondary dress, which she wore for what seemed like a fleeting moment at her reception. Tea-length and adorned in antique lacing, it is a gorgeous piece and I was excited to photograph Valerie in it. We began the Orange County day after wedding shoot at a portion of the San Clemente Ridge trail. It was a last-minute call I made and I wasn't completely sold on it, but I feel like we were able to make some great pictures. Next we headed to Doheny Beach, where we captured some fantastic images of Valerie and Dalton amongst the vastness that is this special place. We took a brief break and hit the St. Regis Monarch Beach for a few drinks, chilling on the 5th floor balcony as we watched the sun come into place. Finally, we headed down the road to Salt Creek Beach Park, where we witnessed one of the most glorious sunsets in recent memory.
