Day After

Valerie + Dalton : Orange County Day After Wedding Shoot

SUSSELMAN08.jpg

Post-wedding/day-after shoots are always great.  There's something about that exhausted, disheveled, hungover look that truly captures the fun that was the day before.  But it's a special treat when post-wedding shoots happen down the road a bit--the couple are freshened up and really devoted to making some great pictures.  Such is the case with Valerie and Dalton, whose fantastic Palm Springs wedding I photographed back in June.  In addition to spending some quality time with some of my favorite clients, of particular interest to me was Valerie's secondary dress, which she wore for what seemed like a fleeting moment at her reception.  Tea-length and adorned in antique lacing, it is a gorgeous piece and I was excited to photograph Valerie in it. We began the Orange County day after wedding shoot at a portion of the San Clemente Ridge trail.  It was a last-minute call I made and I wasn't completely sold on it, but I feel like we were able to make some great pictures.  Next we headed to Doheny Beach, where we captured some fantastic images of Valerie and Dalton amongst the vastness that is this special place.  We took a brief break and hit the St. Regis Monarch Beach for a few drinks, chilling on the 5th floor balcony as we watched the sun come into place.  Finally, we headed down the road to Salt Creek Beach Park, where we witnessed one of the most glorious sunsets in recent memory.

Jennifer + Matt : San Diego Day-After Wedding Shoot

Russell32.jpg

After a late night shooting Jennifer and Matt's wedding at the Darlington House, we rallied the next morning bright and early at The Grand Del Mar for their San Diego day-after wedding shoot.  Jennifer and Matt looked amazing and, with the pressures of the wedding day behind us, it was so great to make some fun, romantic images wherever we wanted! After working around The Grand Del Mar, we headed north to a secret backcountry location I love.  The high sun and rural landscape helped create the perfect juxtaposition with their formal attire.

Kelly+ Sean : Day-After Wedding Shoot

Castady_TTD.jpg

You may remember Kelly and Sean from their gorgeous, vintage-themed wedding at the Long Beach Museum of Art back in early July.  Kelly and Sean wanted to maximize their time with their wedding guests, so we decided to do a day-after wedding shoot that also incorporated their super-cute dog, Cota. We started the shoot at the Sky Room in Long Beach, an inspiring building where Kelly and Sean held their wedding after-party.  Then we headed into downtown found a cool brick wall, which made a fantastic backdrop for a nice family portrait!
