The 3 Best Beach Elopement Venues in San Diego
San Diego is known for its beaches. And with COVID, many people are choosing to elope rather than plan a big wedding. If you’re looking for ideas, check out my list of the best beach elopement venues in San Diego!
Best Beach Elopement Venues #1 : Sunset Cliffs
One of my favorite beach elopement venues in San Diego is Sunset Cliffs! It’s one of the best beach elopement venues for several reasons.
For example, the bluff area is fairly flat, so it’s pretty easy to set up an arch and chairs for a few guests. In addition, the bluff area is large, so there’s lots of room to spread out and create your own intimate area. And, there are lots of options in terms of view! For example, Luscomb’s Point and and the Claiborne’s Cove are two of my favorites!
If there’s a downside, it’s the parking. There are four moderate-sized parking lots along Sunset Cliffs Blvd., between Adair Street and Froude Street. But, those can fill up fast, which leaves just the street parking.

Best Beach Elopement Venues #2 : Windansea Beach
La Jolla’s Windansea Beach is one of the most legendary surf breaks in California. And, it’s one of the best San Diego beach wedding venues around!
Windansea offers everything you’d want in a beach elopement venue! For example, the bluffs above the sand are flat easily accessible. In addition, Windansea has super-clear water, immaculate sand and amazing views everywhere you turn!

Best Beach Elopement Venues #3 : St. Malo Beach Oceanside
Last but certainly not least is St. Malo beach in Oceanside. St. Malo beach is part of the St. Malo development, which sits on the very southern border of Oceanside, just across the Buena Vista Lagoon from Carlsbad.
St. Malo is a gate-guarded community. In order to have a ceremony there, one must know someone or be a resident. But this beach elopement venue is so good I just had to include it!
St. Malo offers a large, private beach for your intimate beach elopement. A small snack stand on the beach can be used as a great spot for cocktail hour. Receptions are held in an old tennis court, which can be transformed to look like a ballroom!
