Planning the Perfect L’Auberge Del Mar Wedding

If you’re considering a luxury wedding venue in San Diego, I highly suggest a L’Auberge Del Mar wedding. With its amazing location, incredible views, relaxing spa services, and gorgeous wedding spots, it’s a wonderful property for your luxury wedding celebration.

Where is the L’Auberge Hotel Del Mar?

L’Auberge Del Mar is located at 1540 Camino Del Mar. The hotel is situated on the northwest corner of 15th Street and Camino Del Mar (Hwy. 101), in the heart of Del Mar, Calif.

With amazing views of the Pacific Ocean, L’Auberge Del Mar is steps from the famous beaches of Del Mar. It’s also by tons of dining and shopping options.

Ceremony Spots for L’Auberge Del Mar Wedding

L’Auberge Del Mar has three distinct wedding ceremony locations: Seagrove Park, the Pacific Terrace, and the Sunset Terrace. Each location has its pros and cons, so read on for the spot that is best for you.

Seagrove Park

Seagrove Park is located one block west of the hotel. The grassy park offers 180-degree views of the Pacific Ocean and is the perfect spot for a seaside wedding ceremony.

Although it’s most commonly used as a ceremony location, it can be used for a reception as well. It can seat up to 200 guests and is a black canvas for any type of decor you desire.

Keep in mind that it’s a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel to the park, so make sure you allow enough time in your timeline for you and your guests to get to and from. If you’d prefer transportation, it can be arranged through the hotel or through a private company.

Pacific Terrace

The Pacific Terrace is the most common ceremony site for L’Auberge Hotel weddings. With space for up to 200 guests, it offers views of the coastline on one side and Del Mar’s village on the other!

Much like Seagrove Park, the Sunset Terrace is essentially a blank canvas, allowing you to apply any sort of decor you wish. Its wide layout allows chairs to be arranged symmetrically, offering guests an unencumbered view of the Pacific.

Sunset Terrace

Situated through the lobby and to the right, the Sunset Terrace is a great place for a wedding ceremony!

The Sunset Terrace is long and narrow, perfect for a smaller, more intimate ceremony. In addition, the Terrace features incredible ocean views, perfect for your sunset ceremony!

If there’s one drawback to a Sunset Terrace ceremony, it’s the relative lack of privacy. The terrace sits directly below the balconies of south-facing rooms of the North Wing, so there’s a good chance people may pour themselves a glass of wine and celebrate with you! Also, the Sunset Terrace sits adjacent to the pool and, while there are glass walls to limit the noise, it may be an issue for some couples.

Reception Locations for L’Auberge Del Mar Wedding

Pacific Terrace

The Pacific Terrace is the most popular reception space for your L’Auberge Del Mar wedding. Its large yet cozy space is an amazing spot for a reception under the stars!

Sunset Terrace

The Sunset Terrace is perfectly suited for a small reception. Or, it can serve as a place for your cocktail hour if you’re holding your reception on the Pacific Terrace.

Bridal Suites for Your L’Auberge Del Mar Wedding

Getting ready for your L’Auberge Del Mar wedding is made easy by the hotel’s two main bridal prep rooms–the Jade Room and the Library.

Jade Room

The Jade Room is a large room with gorgeous window light, which makes it perfect for getting ready photos! It’s located on the south end of L’Auberge on the main floor, so it’s super easy to get to from any other location in the hotel.

The soft window light is a photographer’s dream! The light is very flattering, making it perfect for black and white images of you as you get ready with your bridesmaids.

The light is also great for wonderful bridal portraits before your L’Auberge Del Mar wedding.

The Library

The Library is the other getting ready location for your L’auberge Del Mar wedding. This room is located on the northern end of the L’Auberge Hotel, just off the lobby, so it’s easy to get to, too.

Just like the Jade Room, the LIbrary has plenty of great window light, making it perfect for getting ready photos of the groom.

Photo Spots for L’Auberge Del Mar Wedding

One of the best things about having a L’Auberge Del Mar wedding is the amount of great photo spots in and around the hotel. Here’s a rundown of my favorite spots for various events during a L’Auberge Del Mar wedding.

First Look

My favorite first look photo spot at L’Auberge Del Mar is the walkway between the hotel and the Spa. It features a long, windy path that makes it easy to get those great walk-up shots.

And there’s plenty of space for all photographers and videographers to capture such this special moment.

It’s also adjacent to the Jade Room, so your bridal party can watch you and your partner do the first look!

The area is surrounded by trees and other gorgeous landscaping, making it the perfect place for a first look before your L’Auberge Del Mar wedding!

Family and Bridal Party Photos

There are a few great spots at the hotel to take family and bridal party photos during your L’Auberge Hotel wedding.

Amphitheater Bridal Party Photos

The Amphitheater is my favorite spots for bridal party photos for a L’Auberge Hotel wedding. It’s the perfect size for small-to-medium sized groups, and has a nice background consisting of the roofline of the hotel and some lush landscaping.

For bigger groups, you can move off the bricks and stay on the path, which provides a bit more space for bigger groups. The spa and landscaping are in the background.

Jade Room

Not only does the Jade Room make a great getting-ready suite, but it’s also fantastic for bridal party photos. Perfect for small groups when the weather isn’t great or you’re looking for something a little different. It has great window light and cool wallpaper.

Bride and Groom Romantic Photos

Old Del Mar Train Station

Step back in time with wedding photos at the old Del Mar train station! With its preserved red brick exterior and original “Del Mar Station” sign, it’s the perfect spot for a little romance after your L’Auberge Del Mar wedding

Train Tracks and Seagrove Park

The train tracks that run along the bluff near Del Mar beach make the perfect spot for romantic bride and groom photos after your L’Auberge Del Mar wedding. The long lines and clean background are perfect for photos.

Also, Seagrove Park has benches along the top of the bluff that offer amazing views of the water.

Garden at L’Auberge

In addition to being a great spot for your first look, the garden area between the hotel and the spa is great for romantic portraits of you and your partner.

With well-kept gardens and roses that bloom nearly year-round, it’s yet one more amazing reason to have a L’Auberge Del Mar wedding!

How to Book Your L’Auberge Del Mar Wedding

Booking your L’Auberge Del Mar wedding is as simple as reaching out to the catering team! Their amazing staff will take the time to learn about your wedding, give you a personal tour of the property, and walk you through all your options.

Best Time of Year for a L’Auberge Del Mar Wedding

With it’s amazing year-round weather, there really is no best time, because it’s always amazing!

While much of the United States freezes in the winter months, Del Mar is mostly sunny and mild. Del Mar does get most of its rain in the late-winter/early-spring months, so keep that in mind while you plan.

Late spring and early summer typically are the coolest in Del Mar, with low clouds and fog making their way ashore. If you’re from the sunbelt, this may be the perfect time for a wedding in Del Mar, since it’s sizzling in Arizona!

July through October typically offer the best weather of the year in Del Mar. Mid-summer offers highs in the low-80s and lows in the high-60s, perfect for an outdoor wedding reception. As fall sets in, the air gets a bit dryer and warmer. Locals like to refer to the fall as the best time in Del Mar.

Things to Do in Del Mar

With so much to do in Del Mar, the L’Auberge Hotel is the perfect location for a destination wedding weekend for you and your guests.
