Venice Canals Engagement Photos
Stacey and Brett’s engagement session came at a time of personal tragedy for me. A few days earlier, my father passed away suddenly after a routine surgery. I thought about moving their session, but I pushed ahead and I’m so glad I did. Above all, shooting their Venice Canals engagement photos was just the pick-me-up I needed.

The Venice Canals were built in 1905 by developer Abbot Kinney part of his Venice of America plan. Kinney sought to recreate the appearance and feel of Venice, Italy in Southern California.
The canals are bounded on all sides by amazing homes, wonderfully mature trees and quaint bridges. This combination creates an amazing spot for engagement photos.

On one of the many bridges in the area, Stacey and Brett’s infectiously fun attitudes set the stage for an amazing engagement shoot.

Stacey, wearing a smart black dress, and Brett, wearing a tailored dark-grey suit, share a kiss atop a bridge over the Venice Canals.

There are many reasons why I love shooting Venice Canals engagement photos! For example, these bridges are perfect because they let me shoot a bunch of different angles and looks in a short span of time!

In addition, these walkways along the edges of the canals help create another amazing compositional element.
Similarly, there are plenty of trees that hang over the walkways, adding yet another compositional element.
