It’s so exciting to share the photos from Mary and Garrick’s relaxed La Jolla wedding at the Darlington House!
You may remember this lovely couple from their La Jolla engagement session!
Getting Ready at the Darlington House
As her hair is done, Mary cracks a big laugh while getting ready for her wedding. Getting reactions like this takes time, so it’s important to keep the camera trained on the bride at all times!
Mary’s shoes, colorful bouquet and dress are the perfect ensemble for her relaxed La Jolla wedding. At right, Mary looks out the window from the bridal suite to the wedding guests entering below.
I love doing first looks with the bridal party! The looks on the faces of Mary’s mother, sister and bridesmaids says everything you need to know about her look.
As the minutes tick down until the ceremony, Garrick (far left) and his groomsmen are doing their best to relax in the groom’s suite.
Relaxed La Jolla Wedding Ceremony on the Egyptian Patio
Mary and her father begin the walk down the aisle for her relaxed La Jolla wedding at the Darlington House.
One of Garrick’s groomsmen gives a funny speech that has everyone laughing. In moments like this I’m always focusing on the bride and groom for their reactions.
Bride and Groom Photos in La Jolla
Shortly after the ceremony Mary and Garrick join me for a series of portraits. Our first stop is the lovely window near the top of the staircase at the Darlington House. Just outside on Olivetas street, Mary and Garrick are ecstatic as they relive their ceremony from a few minutes before.
Our time for portraits was limited, so I took them to some spots I knew would work. For example, on the left is my favorite garage door and I love the amazing hedge, too! In addition, the streets near the Darlington House are great for up-close portraits. No matter how much time I have with my couples for portraits, I always make sure I have a plan of attack.
La Jolla Wedding Reception on the Rose Garden
Each place setting features a printed menu atop a square tile, and a light-purple rose tops it off. Long wooden dining tables and matching chairs under market lights ensures a warm ambiance during dinner.
On the night of their La Jolla wedding, Mary and Garrick do their first dance on the bricks of the Rose Garden under a full moon.
Mary and some guests get the party started on the dance floor.
