Rancho Santa Fe Wedding

A Lovely Garden Wedding at the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe

Tucked away in the hills northeast of San Diego lies one of the area’s best wedding venues:  The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe.  The property sits raised on a hill at the very western end of the village of Rancho Santa Fe.  Its grounds, lush with vibrant lawns and colorful plants, make it the perfect place for a garden wedding and reception.

A Great Venue for a Romantic Garden Wedding

There are a handful of areas on the property to hold a wedding.  Los Angeles residents Shelley and Barry opted to hold their wedding ceremony on the lower lawn, which has wonderful views looking back toward the property.  Their reception was held on the Azalea Lawn underneath soft market lights and surrounded by foliage.

Getting Ready Photos in the Bridal Suite

Shelley and Barry’s Inn at Rancho Santa Fe wedding had all the touches of a springtime wedding. For example, the loosely constructed bridal bouquet and her relaxed wedding gown.

Before and after! I love when brides and bridesmaids have matching robes because it makes for a great group photo!

More hands make less work on Shelly’s delicate gown.

Left, Shelly’s bridesmaids put the finishing touches on her dress. Her relaxed gown and colorful bouquet are the perfect combination for this casual garden wedding.

Signs of spring are everywhere at Shelly and Barry’s wedding? For example a light and airy wreath of eucalyptus leaves wrap around the welcome sign. In addition, light-colored florals on the white ceremony chairs and light-pink roses on tabletops.

I love this little squad of flower girls! The one in the front is so focused. In contrast, Shelly and her father are pictures of serenity as they walk toward the ceremony site at the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe.

I felt so bad for this young flower girl, who spilled her basket of rose petals as she processed down the aisle.

I love a groom who wears his heart on his sleeve!

The lower lawn at the Inn is the perfect spot for a Rancho Santa Fe wedding!

When your friend is the officiant, you can expect there to be a few good one-liners during the ceremony.

Barry and Shelley are all smiles as they are pronounced husband and wife and walk down the aisle.

Bride and Groom Photos after Rancho Santa Fe Wedding

Making our way back toward the Inn, we encounter a young boy playing croquet.

The Inn is filled with little nooks like these two blue planters with bright red bougainvillea in full bloom.

Rancho Santa Fe’s quiet streets are the perfect spot for some portraits of Barry and Shelley.

Here’s another little spot that’s great for pictures! It’s right off the bridal suite near the lower lawn. The large hedge provides a great dark backdrop and the sun flare coming in is just perfect!

Barry and Shelly’s wedding features details that blend perfectly with their garden theme. For example, light colored signage and very simple cake make subtle statements. In addition, white tablecloths help brighten the dinner service.

Shelley and Barry make their triumphant grand entrance.

Barry’s mother takes control of the kids on the dance floor.

At weddings with lots of children, I love following them around during dinner because they’re usually playing! For example, this flower girl and ring bearer play a game of “snap the suspenders”.

Cheers with tequila shots!

I love photographing at night under market lights! For example, they create this amazing soft light that really evokes a feeling of peace and calm.

Amazing Wedding Vendors

Styling and coordination for this wedding is by one of my favorites, Molly of Tres Chic Affairs.  Her eye for styling and her ability to manage even the most difficult projects makes her one of Southern California’s most sought-after wedding planners.  Cake and desserts are from Hey There Cupcake! and the iconic VG Donuts.  Floral design by the one and only Bespoke Floral and Event Design.  Finally, hair and makeup was provided by SoCal Hair and Makeup.
