Coronado Chinese Tea Ceremony : Sabrina + Thompson : Part 3

April 8, 2020

It’s so exciting to share pictures from Sabrina and Thompson’s Coronado Chinese tea ceremony at the Hotel Del!

A traditional Chinese tea ceremony is one of the most significant events at a Chinese wedding. The ceremony is a way for the young couple to show respect and gratitude to both sets of parents for all their years of guidance.

In the ceremony, the bride and groom kneel before two chairs. As participants sit in the chairs, the bride and groom serve them tea. In turn, each participant presents a gift to the bride and groom.

For their Coronado Chinese tea ceremony, Sabrina wears her “cheongsam”, an ankle-length red dress with a Mandarin collar that’s commonly worn by the bride in her Chinese tea ceremony. Tea is served from a gorgeous tea set with a traditional Chinese floral pattern.

Sabrina and Thompson chat with Thompson’s mother, also wearing a traditional Chinese dress.

Thompson’s grandfather presents a gift to the newlyweds.

The mother of the groom presents a gift–a lovely bracelet–to Sabrina.

Thompson’s father gives an amazing watch as a gift to the groom during their Coronado Chinese tea ceremony.

With her grandmother wearing a traditional dress, Sabrina’s grandparents sip tea during the ceremony.

Sabrina and her mother share a big laugh during a light moment in their Coronado Chinese tea ceremony.
