Casa Romantica History

Casa Romantica was established in 1927 by Ole Hanson, the co-founder of the town of San Clemente. Casa Romantica served as Hanson’s family home for many years. Its design set the standard for the majority of future development in San Clemente.

Over the years, Casa Romantica would pass through several different owners until, in 1989, the San Clemente Redevelopment Agency purchased the property. And, in 1991, it was listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. After a few years of renovation, it was opened to the public as a cultural center. In the years since, it has become a cherished event and wedding venue.

Ceremony Spaces at Casa Romantica

The ceremony spaces at Casa Romantica perfect for a sunset beach wedding of any size. Sitting high above the beach, the ceremony spaces offer180-degree views of the Pacific Ocean and San Clemente Pier.

Ocean Terrace

The Ocean Terrace at Casa Romantica is the wedding venue’s most popular ceremony space. Overlooking the San Clemente Pier, the space can seat up to 150 guests, which is the maximum guest count at Casa Romantica.

Story Circle

Story Circle is the smallest Casa Romantica ceremony space, but it’s still gorgeous. With built-in seating for up to 20 people, it’s the perfect spot for your intimate ceremony.

It’s also a wonderful spot for group photos and romantic portraits!

Reception Spaces

A reception is an important part of a wedding. Couples want to make sure that they are providing an unforgettable experience for their guests. The reception space is one of, if not the most important component of any wedding. Casa Romantica use two unique spaces to provide a unique experience for your wedding guests.

Courtyard

The Courtyard is the most popular reception space at Casa Romantica. Surrounded on all sides by gorgeous, Spanish-inspired archways, it’s the perfect space to spend an evening under the stars.

The Courtyard can seat up to 150 people comfortably. If it rains, the Courtyard can be easily tented. There’s even a large fireplace to keep everyone warm and cozy!

Main Salon

The Main Salon is the perfect space for an indoor dinner experience. It’s adorned with a gorgeous chandelier, historical photographs, hand-painted tiles, and original hardwood floor.

When used in conjunction with the Courtyard, it most often serves as the perfect place for the bar, wedding cake, and dance floor.

Photo Spots

At Casa Romantica, you can photograph your wedding day in any number of unique settings. Some favorites include: Ocean views, garden views, rose gardens, and outdoor dining areas. There are also many spots inside, such as private lounges and rooms with gorgeous architectural details. Also notable is that no matter what time of year it is or what time of day it is—you can always find a romantic spot to take photos!

First Look

My favorite first look spot is the small space outside the bridal suite.

It’s private setting keeps things intimate. It’s surrounded by lush greenery and features wonderful Spanish tile. And, it’s not affected by crews setting up reception furniture in the main Courtyard, so your photos will be clean and free of distractions.

Bridal Party and Family Photos

There are two great spots for bridal party and group photos at Casa Romantica.

First, there’s the West Terrace, which is situated to the right of the Courtyard as you’re entering the venue. It’s great for large bridal party photos.

Another great spot is the Story Circle. With it’s breathtaking views and gorgeous surroundings, it’s my favorite spots for group and family photos at Casa Romantica.

Finally, the front door makes another wonderful spot for group photos!
