For years, Palm Springs has been the go-to getaway spot for many Southern Californians. More recently, it's become popular with couples planning destination weddings, for a variety of reasons. I've photographed several Palm Springs destination weddings and it's truly one of my favorite places on earth.
Here are my top 5 reasons to plan a destination wedding in Palm Springs:
It's no surprise that Palm Springs has amazing weather. From September to May, it has maybe the best weather in California--warm, sunny and full of color--perfect for a destination wedding. Plus, the city is built for heat, so even in the peak of the summer, when temperatures can reach 120°F, the shade and misting of your poolside cabana can be a welcome reprieve.
Accessible From Anywhere
If you live in Southern California, Palm Springs is at most a two-hour drive from anywhere. If you're from out of town, Palm Springs airport serves most major hubs in the U.S. And it's only a two-hour drive from LAX, which is accessible from anywhere in the world. Your destination wedding guests will thank you for making travel easy on them.
The mid-century architecture style really found its legs in Palm Springs, due to it's proximity to Los Angeles. The style has made a renaissance in recent years and there's still no shortage of homes and hotels decorated in mid-century style. Why not carry over this style into your destination wedding decor?
There are a few major hotel chains in Palm Springs, but the charm of the area lies in its boutique hotels, each offering their own special twist on the Palm Springs experience. Many of these hotels will rent out their entire property for a destination wedding, creating the ultimate wedding weekend experience!
Killer Party Atmosphere
There's just something about Palm Springs that makes you want to relax by the pool and sip a cocktail. It's the perfect place for your wedding guests to experience the ultimate relaxing weekend.
